In the last year our workshop courses have been of huge success and have seen the beginnings of a lot of long-term users to the workshop. With an amazing range of equipment and fantastic tutors to match, our courses are great entryways into a creative world of practical making.
Glad to say as well, the Factory4 workshop is excited to announce it has received some more funding for specific daytime courses allowing us to to make them very cheap, or even free, for those receiving particular entitlements (specified at the bottom of the page).
Here is a list of our courses over the next few months:
6 Week Courses
Introduction to DIY
Wednesday 15 February
10am - 12am
£42 or free*
This course is designed to help you brush up your DIY skills or learn new ones. You will learn how to use a use a range of hand held tools and machinery in a safe and confident way. The course will equip you with the skill to do all the odd jobs at home with out waiting for someone else.
Introduction to Jewellery Making -
Monday 20 February
1pm - 3pm
£90
Working with silver, you will learn about silversmithing using a range of hand tools and equipment. Working with the support of a tutor, the course will allow you to make your very own unique piece of jewellery with no previous experience required.

Introduction to Screenprint
Wednesday 1 February

Monday 13 Feb
12 Noon - 2pm

This course will cover all the essentials of photo screen printing process. Over the six weeks you will learn about printing equipment, inks, paper and fabric printing as well as experimenting with colour alignment. By the end of the course you will have created your own work using a wide range of techniques.
Screenprint Intermediate

Friday 17 February
12 noon - 2pm

You will create your own screen printed photographs and large scale prints. The course is tailor made to suit different levels. Our specialist trained tutor will be at hand to give you one to one support. You will learn all about this skilled profession in our fully equipped workshop.

Introduction to Woodwork -
Monday 13 February
10am -12 Noon

Suitable for beginners, this course train you to use a range of hand tools and industrial machinery as you create your very own piece of work. Our woodworking tutor will guide you through each step from designing to creating a crafted piece of woodwork.
Woodwork Intermediate -

This course is designed for those learners who already have some primary woodwork skills as it allows you the freedom of being able to work at your own level with the guidance and expertise of the woodwork tutor. A great course for developing a project you might have had in mind for ages, but just never the facilities to do it.

Picture Framing -

Our skilled framing tutor will teach you all you need to know about constructing your own professional picture frame. You will learn how to make mouldings, cut glass, cut mounts and use a range of professional framing tools to create your very own bespoke frame.

Introduction to Upholstery

This practical course will provide you the opportunity to work alongside an experienced tutor from the field and use a range of tools and equipment to re-upholster a piece of your own furniture. You will learn all about this interesting profession in a friendly workshop environment.

Friday 24 February

Using your own piece of furniture, you will learn alternative techniques in stripping, polishing, and finishing. With all the equipment and space you need, this course helps you understand the life you can reinvigorate into a piece of furniture you might have thought otherwise dormant.

SPECIAL EXCLUSIVE COURSE JUST IN
Make Your Own Cushion at Factory 4
We have a special new course for you. Combining the skills of our expert screen print and upholstery tutors we are presenting you a one day duo-course. In the morning you print your own design on our screen beds, and then in the afternoon we will help you turn your personalised fabric into a cushion.
Tea, cake, materials and enjoyment all included. Send us your designs to make your own unique cushion.
